India’s World Cup Cricket victory
Novice team defeated all pack West Indian team, at Lord’s cricket stadium. What a day was for all the Indians ! This was turning point for the game of cricket which was once considered legacy for the rich man, which is now played in all the streets and corners of this country. This month, we are celebrating the silver jubilee of India’s world cup victory. The world cup team of 1983 re-assembled at a dinner party organized by BCCI to celebrate 25th anniversary in New Delhi. The captain of this winning team, Kapil Dev introduced his devils one by one on the stage. Everyone became emotional on this grand occasion. Kapil said “It is very difficult to talk at this moment. We will never know how it happened. In life many such things happen. Later in your life you come to know how beautiful those moments were. Twenty-five years back the love and affection that we got from the people was unparallel. It can never match any amount of money.”

Mohinder_Amarnath_1983_World_Cup.JPGKapil also thanked the team selectors and N.K.P. Salve (Board President in 1983) for their support and faith in the team. Sunil Gavaskar praised Kapil for his great leadership during the world cup. “He was the man, who showed us the way. Sunil said “The moment when Kapil lifted the Prudential Trophy high above his head is the best moment of my life. Can you imagine India, no-hopers before the tournament became the world champions,” This historical win accelerated the popularity of cricket in Indian subcontinent and it became the most popular game. The team members were presented with a cheque of Rs.2.5 million and also felicitated by Pawar and Sports Minister M.S. Gill. Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Mohammed Azharuddin and former board presidents Salve, Raj Singh Dungarpur, Inderjit Singh Bindra and Ranbir Singh Mahendra were also present in the dinner party.

This victory proved the point that with unity nothing is impossible in this world. I was still one and half year ago to come into this world. But the moment cannot be forgotten so easily. Today when I was listening to FM Radioone which was broadcasting some programmer on this great victory, one can imagine what a feeling was there people where standing against the few TV’s to become the part of such an auspicious moment.

Racy Indian sex-symbol Poonam Pandey is set to give her cricket-loving countrymen something else to cheer about if they manage to beat Sri Lanka in the Cricket World Cup Final today – she’s vowed to strip naked in celebration.

The world-famous Indian model, well known for appearing in numerous sexy swimwear calendars, is determined to provide as much support for the India team as her bras give her.

Following Wednesday’s victory over arch rivals and neighbors Pakistan, Pandey announced her intentions to strip off if the boys can win the big one. The 20 year old model has vehemently denied that her vow to strip off in celebration is a publicity stunt. In fact, her motives are quite unselfish, so she claims “I’m totally confident about my body, all I’m trying to do is get the boys excited so they play better”.

But it’s not only the boys who have been tantalized by the sexy star – the Indian press has also been whipped up into a frenzy by the prospect of seeing Ms. Pandey get it all out for the boys, with saucy pictures of the model dominating the headlines.

Ms. Pandey’s intentions, which she says are “her own way of supporting the team”, have caused mix reactions with the wider public however, in a country where around 90% of the population is devoutly religious Muslims or Hindus.

In last year’s FIFA World Cup, a similar pledge to get pulses racing was made by the Paraguayan supermodel Larissa Riquelme.

However, Pandey’s promise seems to be much more daring, considering Paraguay never stood a chance of winning the football World Cup, unlike the Indian favorites in the cricket version. Still, Paraguay’s early exit from that tournament didn’t stop the luscious Latino babe from doing it anyway – winning her a nice advertising deal in the process.
